ASOS Curve has been my go-to for fashion for a while now. They have fun, trendy clothes, and what do you know, their Size 24 always fits my Size 26/28 body. These plus size shorts are a good length, I love the drawstring, and the color palette is right on trend. Continue reading

A Plus Size Hippie!
Plus Size Hippie Clothing is Still a Fashion Statement!
I am a plus size hippie. I am interested in all things about peace and love. I was 20 years old in 1968 and I embraced that era of wild colors and wide bottomed pants, and humans claiming the right to express themselves. Continue reading

Z by Zevarra is Luxe
I stole this look from garnerstyle. I saw this faux fur stole and I had to have it. It is a 3X, but it actually fits me well enough. It is quite heavy and warm. I do not know how much I will have a chance to wear such an amazing piece in sunny California, but I am certainly going to try! Continue reading
I Don’t Wear Plus Size Winter Accessories!
Since I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, it is fairly unusual for me to need a winter hat, gloves and/or a scarf. For the occasional fire on the beach I have a 10 year old kitty hat and a pair of purple leather gloves. Last night we went to a party and it was warm enough to sit outside for a drink while we were near the fireplace. But, I did live in Minnesota one winter and loved the winter coats and scarves and hats, the weather, not so much.
So I looked around and these are what I would be wearing if I lived in snow country right now. I love a cloche hat and thought the faux mink collar and gloves would be fabulous with either of them. Did you see the collar also comes in leopard print. And they are all on sale!
One Stop Plus has the best selection of plus size hats I have ever seen. Winter hats, summer hats, sunday go to church hats, cowboy hats, silly hats, bright colored hats, they have over 400 hats. A great place to start when you are hat shopping.
And did you know fur collars are EVERYWHERE this year? In fact, I think most of these standard size collars will accommodate plus sizes. The short collars are about 20 inches, which would work for me with a longer ribbon, and the longer “collars” or faux fur scarves, would work at their current 46″ length. I think they are fun and add depth and breadth to any outfit.
Some of them are very fun and others are more conservative, and many of them are on sale.
I wanted to bring you one last set of choices. A black leopard hat with several different glove possibilities. The fleece hat and gloves, as well as the quilted gloves are all on sale and would make great gifts.
BOOTS: I cannot discuss Winter without mentioning boots. The hunt for wide calf boots is always with us. If you want to see what I think are the widest calf boots available, please click HERE.

Fall Into Autumn in an ASOS Curve Lace Jacket
As fall approached I began thinking about my fall wardrobe and what I liked of the new arrivals at the various on-line stores. And guess what, I could not find anything in fall colors that spoke to me except this jacket, and black (or white, which it also came in) is not a fall color. In the San Francisco Bay area where I live, everyone wears black year-round, so sometimes I really try to buy something that is not black, but not this time.
When I purchased the jacket I did not realize that it had as much mesh as it did lace. I could not really tell that from the ASOS Curve photo because it is black on black. I still love it.
It is a tiny bit snug when zipped, which was surprising since it is an ASOS Curve US Size 24, which is usually quite generous on me, but since it does not actually provide much protection from the cold I probably will wear it unzipped. Usually I wear a size 26/28, but can fit into a size 24 in the ASOS Curve brand (but not all of the brands that they carry), and sometimes a US Size 22. There is NO stretch in this jacket, but I am enjoying wearing it.

Michael Kors Plus Size Houndstooth Vest!
You could wear this vest on a walk on the bogs of England (can you tell we are watching Sherlock at our house), or to a festival at night in chilly San Francisco, or to that outdoor BBQ that requires clothing that is a little fancier than jeans and a t-shirt, but not really cold enough for a real coat.
The Land’s End Turtleneck was a “uniform” piece that I wore for many years when I lived in the corporate world, with a blazer or light silk jacket, and black trousers. I still have a handful of them and I wear them when I can.

Reallllly, Back to School?
So when someone in Ahead of the Curve suggested “Back to School” as our September blog subject, I thought OMG, I haven’t even thought about school clothes in 40 years. I started college at 25 so my approach to dressing for school was a little different. BUT, I had fallen in love with this felt bowler hat on ASOS Curve that I wanted to try, and I love, and they also had this mini skirt that just screamed school, and then I had to check and see if there are still school-girls in high top sneakers, and or boots, and guess what, there are, and it all came together. So here we are!
I thought I would try the look two different ways.
I wore the bowler hat out and about yesterday and everyone loved it. It is quite large (and I have a big head), and is difficult to keep on my head so I am going to try a couple of little twists of hair to anchor it to, or to put something in the hat to make it a little smaller. It is lightweight, which I love, and thus not too warm.
The vest is going to have to be returned. The armholes are HUGE and since it is scuba material, quite heavy. So you can’t wear it in the heat nor the cold. Very sad, because I really like it.
The gold necklaces are mine that I have acquired over the last 30 years. I made black silk cord into necklaces using these lobster clasps so I could get the correct length so they would be the length I wanted. I am trying to use the jewelry that was my mother’s and my mother-in-law’s, rather than buy new.

Hell Bunny Plus Size 4X – OMG it fits
I have been eyeing Hell Bunny for a long time but when I looked at their size chart I just did not see any hope for my 53″ waist fitting into one.
But then fellow Ahead of the Curve blogger and friend Cherie, who blogs at The Fat Girl knew a little about my size and suggested that I give one a try. And guess what, it fits. It has a full elastic back, but not much give in the material.

So I decided to go to an expert, to help me with figuring out what Hell Bunny dresses might fit. I contacted the owner of Sweet Echo, and she gave me this information about the Hell Bunny dresses that have a full elastic back or run a little larger or have some stretch:
- Mariam Polka Dot dress has full elastic back;
- Cannes has the side stretchy panels, not across entire back and runs big for Hell Bunny;
- Bobbi Lee has the back stretchy panel;
- Alika has the back stretchy panel, and Sweet Echo has one left in a 4X;
- Zombie Pin Up in Mini has side stretchy panels and runs bigger compared to other Hell Bunny dresses and the material has some give to it.
- Adelaide Polka Dot dress does not have any stretchy panel but it runs big and the material gives; and
- Olive dress has back stretchy panel but it runs small.
So that is what I know today, if you have a question you could always contact Sweet Echo and I am sure she would be happy to answer your questions.
You may have noticed that I don’t usually give you a link for my earrings. I can’t wear posts, I seem to have developed an allergy to metal. I mainly wear vintage clip earrings from the 80s that I buy on Etsy for Ebay.

Bare for Summer in a Plus Size 4X Crop Top
A few weeks ago I woke up wanting a size 4X crop top.
So during my research I fell in love with this crop top, I am a big Will Smith fan and I thought the colors would look great with a wild patterned skirt I have (in real life the hues of the colors did not work at all).
Since I wear strapless, strappy camis, shorts, bathing suits or whatever I feel like, I felt like it was not going to be difficult to expand my boundaries when I learned that our Ahead of the Curve bloggers collective topic this month is “Bare for Summer“. But then I thought, oh, my tummy, show my tummy, OMG. So a crop top it is.
- I tried the crop top with a t-shirt underneath, the crop top rode up immediately and was not very becoming.
- To be honest, I don’t think I will be wearing this much in public, but I am grateful for my fellow size positive fatties who are doing so for me.
- I ordered the shorts in a 5X and they felt too large, but the 4X rides up and are VERY short when I sit down.
- I had been wanting gladiator sandals since we went to Italy two years ago and they were everywhere. I am so happy to have found a WW width.
