Apple Bottoms – How Do They Fit?

On my Macy’s Shopping spree I fell in love with this dress I thought I would try a 3X, but   I had not noticed it was a junior plus size, which as you know, usually run small.  And yes it was a little too small for me as I am a pretty standard 4X, and the back was completely open, cute, but…..  Had to return it and that made me very sad.  But I may have to try another style (love the pink striped maxi), what do you think?..affinity

DKNYC Print Sequin Dress – How does it fit?

I found this fabulous, beautifully made, and much more attractive than in the photo, dress in several locations on the web on sale for various amounts.  I purchased it from Macy’s in a 3X (I usually wear a 4X) .  I loved it but it was a little large in the arms and would have needed some tailoring.  But I will keep my eye out for DKNYC from now on.  Their clothes are fun, stylish, they are sized about a size larger and they must make an abundance of them because they seem to go on sale… affinity

So, while writing this post, I fell back in love with this dress and I re-ordered it from Bloomingdales (still on sale).

Torrid Leggings – How do they fit?

I am really attracted to leggings these days.  Probably because I am wearing more skirts than I have in a long time.  I don’t usually buy leggings at Torrid because  their standard size 3/4 does not fit me, and up until recently, I thought that was the only size they made.  But I fell in love with these striped lace leggings because they would look fabulous with one of my skirts.  Guess What!  The size 4 is WAY too big. So big that I am going to send them back and get a size 3.  So if you have ever wanted to try Torrid Leggings and thought they would be too small this is the moment.  Since I am a size 26-28 and the Size 4 is too big on me I bet that they would fit a Size 30-32.  I know it is difficult to find fun trendy leggings in large sizes so this is the moment, before they go away.  I am going to order 2 pairs right now.

Our Guest – Peggy Reskin

Today we are welcoming my friend and fellow blogger, Peggy Reskin.  We have been friends for almost twenty years.  It is a delight to hear Peggy’s thoughts on dressing up for the Symphony…affinity

This picture was New Year’s Eve at the San Francisco Symphony.  Going to the Symphony is such a great place to go for splendid fun in choosing your attire!  The evening always begins with promenading through the long span around the huge oak bar and part of the fun is the open enjoyment by all, particularly the women, in acknowledging with a nod or a smile, glance or a word, each other in our elegant gowns from New York, Paris and Rome, or in my case downtown Oakland.

Somehow the enjoyment you have in this company of strangers enjoying each other’s presence is uniquely the Symphony ambiance, I have found in the past 10 years.  It’s a level playing field with the usual divisions: age, stage, place not central to the feeling these evenings consistently offer.

DRESS in Oakland on College Avenue is where I go when I have a Symphony or fancy event to attend.  The owner, a former buyer from New York, takes delight in having you find just what you want and there is a great deal to choose from-all good options.  This Red dress was comfortable and playful and fun-all night long; a lot of dancing is part of the evening with three or four different bands.  The necklace was a gift from my husband, and the shoes:  comfortable gold slip straps, that are 3 inches work!
Just having had my 70th birthday, I’m appreciative of the fact that there are no limits on what is good to wear. It’s how you live that is the measure of clothes to me….Peggy
