Plus Size Bracelets

Victoria Emerson Wrap Bracelet
Victoria Emerson Wrap Bracelet

You have probably noticed I love bracelets, especially bangle or wrap bracelets. I wear them most every day and have purchased them everywhere. I have big hands, like my Dad’s, and my wrist is 7 1/2 inches, so I have rarely purchased a bracelet at an accessory store or at a regular retail site. So what do I do? The bracelet above is two Victoria Emerson’s wrap bracelets that I connected together, and I love that they alternate black and crystals. The two of them go around my wrist about 8 times, rather that 10 times as they are expected to do, and I love wearing them. I have had them a couple of months, we will see how they hold up. You could certainly make something like this for even less than the sale price that I paid. HERE are some YouTube tutorials of varying difficulty. There are over 2,000 plus size bracelets on ETSY.

DIY Bracelets: For “gold days” I have taken my mother-in-law’s, as well as my own costume and fine necklaces and tiny bracelets and connected them together to use as a wrap bracelet. It makes me SO happy to be using jewelry that was sitting in my drawer and I love the look.

Since I am retired and I can wear whatever I want, my standard everyday look has been rhinestone bangles for the last couple of years and I have been buying them at Torrid. But sometimes a rhinestone will fall out the first day, the bracelets have fallen apart after everyday use or occasionally one of them will not fit. But I do love them and I keep trying.

green bracelet LGWhen we went to Europe last year I wanted a memento so I bought this sweet stretch bracelet in Cannes, and it does not even turn my wrist black when I wear it. LOL. I occasionally buy a regular bracelet with stretch. I really wanted some vintage bakelite bracelets but all the bangles were WAY too small so I settled for a stretch version on EBAY.

You can buy Plus Size Bracelets from these sites: ASOS Curve, Lane Bryant, Torrid, avenue, Sonsi, OneStopPlus, debshops, Domino Dollhouse. I would love to hear where you are buying plus size bracelets and how they are holding up for you.

How do Size 26 -28 Sizes fit at ASOS Curve?

Did you know that Radiant Orchid is the Pantone Color of the year for 2014? It is my favorite color, purple with a little red thrown in, it matches my glasses, it was my wedding color, and it is my current toenail polish color.

So when I saw this skater dress at ASOS Curve, in a US Size 24, I just had to have it. I asos purple club Lassumed it would fit I have many ASOS Curve items in a US 22 or 24.  But I failed to notice that it was not an ASOS Curve Brand Dress, it is a Club L Dress, which is says right on the title of the dress. And it was so small in a Size 24, I could not even get it over my head.

I am loving ASOS Curve right now. Reasonably priced, lots of fun clothes, and their US Size 24 usually fits, because it runs big. I usually wear a Size 26-28, but heads up, if you are really a US size 26 -28 like I am, only buy the ASOS Curve brand. I will keep a list here of some of their brands that my friends and I have tried that do not fit.

ASOS Curve Midi-Skater Skirt

ASOS Curve Midi-Skater Skirt

What was I thinking, a midi skirt for me? So what did I do? I immediately rolled it up so it looked like a regular skater skirt, and wore it with stockings and boots! The definition of a skater skirt is: high-waisted, short and flowy with a hemline that hits above the knee. This is what the midi skirt looked like on the 5’10” tall model. I should have known that a midi would look draggy on me. LOL!

This skirt, via Gwynnie Bee, is a U. S. Size 24, to compare my measurements to yours, to see if these clothes might fit, click HERE.

ASOS Curve Body Con Geometric Dress – Plus Size Review

asos geometric lgI just cannot decide whether or not to keep this dress.  Clearly it needs to be shortened, but I fits comfortably, it is made of light fabric and it is really fun. I bought it on sale so it is not that expensive, maybe without the belt and a better bra…  BUT the real question is will I wear it? All those dresses I have that are easy to wear, and fun and flirty, this is sort of dramatic and VERY revealing.  I would love to hear your opinion. And I suspect I am leaning toward sending it back since this is the only time I have worn it.

ASOS Curve Size 24 Ombre Pencil Skirt – Review

photo-4I am in Palm Springs this week and this has been my Go To outfit.  Out to dinner, dinner at a friends, just dressed up enough for the desert. This is how it looks after having it shortened about 3″

This is how it looked before it was shortened, and the leggings were too much for the skirt.

brastrapOn the desert I wore a Cult of California bra that created a more interesting back.

top w flower medAnd then I got an idea in my head that I should put one of the cut off flowers from the left over material from the hem shortening, on the cami.  That did not work out so well. I will be removing it.  LOL

pp leaBut the best part of the week was a housewarming dinner party at my friend’s fabulous mid-century house in Rancho Mirage. SO FUN!  Thank you!

ASOS CURVE Sequin Pencil Skirt Size US 24 – Review

asos curve sequin skirt LG2As you know from this review, I have a trial membership to Gwynnie Bee, and if you are interested in checking it out please read more HERE (full disclosure) if you sign up I do NOT get a free month free since I am not going to continue my membership beyond the trial.

I would not have bought this wild multi color sequin pencil skirt, but when I saw it was one of the choices I could “rent”, in a US Size 24 no less, of course I had to try it. It is a little snug, but after all it is a pencil skirt. The entire skirt is made from a stretch poly blend. (ASOS does have a free/easy return policy, which makes it easier to take chances) You can see my measurements HERE if you want to know how this might fit YOU.

I probably would not buy this, even if I needed a sequin pencil skirt, because sequins are not very comfortable to wear, but oh is this SO gorgeous.  When I opened the box my husbanded was blinded and loved it. And guess what, it is on sale right now. I saw another blogger had belted the top and I wish I had thought to do that with a thin belt in one of the colors found in the skirt (lots of choices), it seemed to give the outfit more definition.

The top I am wearing is several years old INC International Concepts Size 24 made of a stretchy knit, which is very comfortable and fits quite well.

Lots more Gwynnie Bee outfits to come, watch this space.

ASOS Curve Body Con Dress Size 24 – Review

red asos pencil LGAs you know from this review, I have a trial membership to Gwynnie Bee, and if you are interested in checking it out please read more HERE (full disclosure: if you sign up after the trial, I get a free month free).  One of the first dresses I tried was this one, because I love the body con look, but because I am apple shaped I thought it would not be a great look for me, and “renting” the look seemed perfect.

This dress looks great standing up forward, although it could use a little shortening, but both standing sideway and sitting down it is not as forgiving as a fit & flare dress, which is how I usually dress. I am thrilled to have tried it and I would love to hear about your body con adventures.

You can see my measurements HERE if you want to know how this might fit YOU. The Size US 24 was a very comfortable fit for me.

Dress: ASOS Curve, Size 24
Boots: Avenue Size 9.5W, my review is HERE, and they are currently on sale
Glasses: I found these in my jewelry drawer, something similar HERE

12/10/13 Update: The red and black dress above has turned out to be my favorite of the ASOS Curve Body Con dresses I have tried on, and FYI it is on sale right now, HERE. I like the weight of the dress, I like the black panels, I may have to buy it.

asos pencil LGI also tried another ASOS Curve Body Con Dress, which I had been coveting for months, via Gwynnie Bee, and once again I loved it, although it was much longer and would need to be shortened, and because it was a much lighter material, it did not do well with the leggings.

Review – ASOS Curve Pinafore Denim Dress

asos denimI know you have been reading a lot about ASOS Curve on my blog lately. They are not sending me clothes (I wish they were) but I am just finding so much fun interesting clothing, AND ASOS Curve has just recently gone from carrying a U.S. size 20 to a generously sized U.S. 24.  I wear a Size 26 -28, or even a Size 30 in a tight fitting jean.  I am way larger in the waist than the average size 26-28 because I am apple shaped and I am 64.  So being able to wear a Size 24, with a fitted waist feels like a gift.  One of the things I love is that ASOS Curve defines the shape of the clothing, “fit and flare” or “body con”.

This pinafore also comes in a tartan plaid, with a collar, precious.

ASOS Curve Denim Pinafore: U.S. Size 24
Torrid Twist Tee from FatToo Grand: Size 4X
Bob’s Belts: Black Stretch Belt Size 3X (50-52) I have been wearing these belts for years with my work dress pants.
Sock Dreams: I found these Pink, Over the Knee Socks, by searching for plus size, Over the Thigh, but I wear them as knee highs. Sock Dreams is the best I have found for a variety of socks, BUT, read descriptions carefully, many of the plus sized items do not fit my 18″ calf.

Review of Sparkle Skirt from ASOS Curve

sparkle skirt leori croppedI just had to have this ASOS sparkle skirt. It is short and cute and sparkly. Of course I did not have anywhere to wear it, nor anything to wear it with, but I just had to have it.  After it hung in my closet for FOUR months I came across this little sparkly, silvery, leopard embellished top on FatToo Grand, an on-line plus size 4X thrift store on Facebook.  I still have not worn it out but I am going to two BBQs this weekend and I might just have to wear this.

Review of Cult of California Plus Size 4X -5x Holographic Leggings

holo tights outfitCan you believe these Cult of California amazing tights come to a Size 5X.  I bought a 4X, and when they arrived they looked small to me, but they fit my big waist and tummy very well.  They are a little big at the ankle but I am just going to do a little nip and tuck there. I am so amused by them. Now I just have to wait until it gets cold enough in Oakland to wear them.

Baloon Dress: ASOS Curve US Size 22
Belt & Jewelry: Torrid, Size 5X, a little too large, had to use a binder clip in the back.
